Specifying a smart wall switch looks simple until a container of glass panels fails install: wrong box size, no neutral, 5 GHz-only Wi‑Fi, or a cert pack that does not match the destination market. This guide lists the dimensions a sourcing buyer should fix in the RFQ — aligned with how trading suppliers actually quote multi-factory lines.
1. Start with the wall box, not the app screenshot
Frame / plate standard decides mechanics: 86-type (common in China export residential packs), EU, US or UK. Mixing standards in one project without a clear BOM is a common cause of rework. Sample SKU PL-SW-T3-WIFI-86 is an 86-type hero; US/UK need the matching series called out explicitly.
2. Gangs, load and wiring
- Gangs: 1–4 channels; do not assume one glass design covers dimmer + fan + curtain without module changes.
- Neutral vs no-neutral: neutral is more reliable for LED loads; no-neutral needs load/bypass discipline. See neutral vs no-neutral.
- Load type: LED wattage, inductive fans, and multi-way circuits need different modules.
3. Protocol: Wi‑Fi, Zigbee or Matter

4. App brand and voice
Tuya / Smart Life is common on OEM lines; private app raises MOQ. Alexa / Google Home usually ride the same cloud stack — confirm in writing if the tender names a voice brand.
5. Certifications by market
CE/RoHS for many EU-facing lines; FCC for North American RF products; UL where the category requires it; SASO and others project-based. Trading desks should attach packs per SKU, not invent certificate numbers on the website. See certification buyer guide.
